This month Event Streaming .TV were privileged to film interview with Hollywood legend Gary Oldman in conversation with Michael Dobbs, an active member of the House of Lords and author of House of Cards, discussing Churchill’s legacy and playing the role of the famous war time leader.

Darkest Hour is an extraordinary film starring Gary Oldman, who won an Oscar for his performance, depicting the first days of Churchill as Prime Minister in May of 1940. To fully understand the prime minister and capture his spirit, Oldman did extensive research by reading biographies, studying film footage, visiting Churchill’s home at Blenheim Palace, and speaking to Churchill’s family members.

The International Churchill Society (ICS), founded in 1968 shortly after Churchill’s death, is the world’s preeminent member organisation dedicated to preserving the historic legacy of Sir Winston Churchill. WaveFX were commissioned to produce the video which will be shown at the 38^th International Churchill Conference, titled ‘Churchill and Freedom’ in October 2021. Live from London ‘Voices of the Great War’ is a timeless tale of family, faith, and duty  featuring characters and events taken from the journals and letters of front-line soldiers and home front supporters during the Great War of 1914-1918.

This Hyde Park theatre webcast was attended by a seated audience that gave not one, but two standing ovations. The Facebook webcast of Sunday’s performance gave a broader reach. The video has been clicked over 15,000 times in just 48 hours.

As a webcasting production company we purchased an insta360pro camera because it offered real-time stitching, 8K resolution and was great value compare to a Nokia Ozo or GoPro rig

Always wanting to embrace and offer new technology streaming 360° went down well with our clients and over the last few months we’ve learnt a lot especially about lighting, sound and where to place the camera to get the best retention of our online viewers. But the one negative we faced every time was the presentation graphics.

The presentation graphics either on a plasma or big projected screen were always bleached out and difficult to read so we needed a solution to allow us to overlay crisp legible graphics direct from the presentation laptop.

The big question was how to bring the graphics feed into the 360 environment so it wasn’t distorted when viewed live, the answer was Resolume some Vjing software we’d being using for webcasting festivals.

The workflow was to bring the PowerPoint laptop feed in to our Zbook laptop via a Blackmagic thunderbolt converter, warp with a ripple effect and then output into the LiveStream HD550 vision mixer via NDI.

Warping the graphics feed and then resizing and positioning in the LiveStream unit allowed us to place the PowerPoint feed perfectly so when viewed via a 360 player the graphics appeared full screen and completely crisp.

At the heart of the webcast was our two LiveStream HD550’s a very clever and versatile bit of equipment that transforms any event into a professional live production.

As a company we’re delighted to now be offering multiple live vision mixing of 360 cameras including external graphic feeds.

Webcasting production company EventStreaming.TV filmed and streamed Natalie Portman in conversation with international bestselling author Yuval Noah Harari live from Central Hall Westminster.

Due to the huge interest in the event a second venue was opened catering for a further 1000 people watching the live stream on via a cinema webcast.

The event was organised by The how to: Academy who produces talks, debates and conferences for people who think big. Bringing to London the greatest speakers and experts from around the world to inspire us to ‘Think, Learn and Imagine”.

Event Streaming .TV supplied the technical, filming and webcasting crew to live vision-mix multiple 4K cameras and live stream simultaneously to the cinema webcast, remote locations and social media platforms.

Yuval Noah Harari discussed his highly anticipated new book 21 Lessons for the 21st Century, with Natalie Portman, award-winning actress, director and activist. Topics ranged from; what is happening right now and what we should do about it, to how are we to grapple with the consequences of who we are.

Powered by coffee and the promise of a McDonald’s we got through. Bill Gates webcast called on Commonwealth leaders to show they’re ready to beat malaria

The malaria summit webcast was designed to coincide with a Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in London this week. The 53 Commonwealth countries, mostly former British colonies, are disproportionately affected by malaria – accounting for more than half of all global cases and deaths although they are home to just a third of the world’s population.

Former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates, now focussing on his Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, spoke of the importance of collaboration and sharing during his keynote webcast. “It’s a disease that is preventable, treatable and ultimately beatable, but progress against malaria is not inevitable,” Gates said. “We hope today marks a turning point.”

A total of £2.9bn was pledged to fight the disease which included £1.45bn from countries affected by malaria, £700m from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and £160m from the UK government.

Commonwealth leaders also promised to halve the impact of malaria within five years, preventing 350m cases of the disease and saving 650,000 lives.

This week the UK hosted the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) where world leaders gathered in London and Windsor to address shared global challenges and agree actions on how to create a better future for all.

The Event Streaming team were on-site for 7 days webcasting the events, forums and ceremonies live to Facebook, YouTube and LiveStream. Working for Glasgow’s a multi-award winning agency with specialities in events management and technical production.

The Commonwealth contains a diverse group of countries, its home to half of the globe’s top emerging cities and, with a combined population of 2.4 billion people, nearly a third of the global population.

The Commonwealth Summit was formally opened by Queen Elizabeth followed by an official welcome of the leaders of 53 Commonwealth nations by UK Prime Minister Theresa May and Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland.

A first for the Event Streaming team was the new feature within Facebook to crosspost live webcasts.

4K video isn’t just about increased pixels and picture quality, 4K webcast cropping is the new buzz word and its allowing HD video production and webcasters to do much much more.

4K cropping allows a single camera to create multiple shots to make any event look like a multi-camera production. For example a 4K video camera set to a wide shot could also be used as a close up on the presenter, a mid shot off the panel and also a close up of any panel presenter.

The ability to create multiple virtual shots that zoom and glide beautifully from one to the other is a very impressive feature and one that EventStreaming.TV have fully bought into with the purchase of several new 4K cameras and 4K LiveStream vision mixers.

Switching between the virtual camera shots highlights key moments in any presentation resulting in a dynamic and engaging broadcast for your audience. The big news is having just one or two 4K cameras without a camera operator is a significant cost saving over a traditional multi-camera setup.

The EventStreaming.TV team have just returned from a week in Cardiff filming 360 webcast and streaming LIVE the build up to the Anthony Joshua v Carlos Takam fight.

Anthony Joshua made the fourth defence of his world heavyweight titles against Carlos Takam at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, winning the fight in the 10^th round.

Working with Deece Creative the pre-fight workout sponsored by William Hill was filmed and streamed live to 1000’s on Facebook from St David’s Hall in Cardiff. The following day EventStreaming.TV streamed the press conference from Cardiff’s national museum which also saw huge numbers tune in.
